Redlands Community Hospitals Encourages Runners
to Not Skip a Beat When Dealing with Heart Disease
REDLANDS, Calif-- February is Heart Month--a time to take stock of
the health of your heart. One of the best things anyone can do for
good heart health is running. Hundreds will be training this season
for the Run through Redlands event, taking place on April 18, 2010.
"When taking into consideration your heart health, you should be
certain to include any of a number of cardio vascular exercises to
your regimen, training or participating in the Run through Redlands
Event is a great way to have fun and stay healthy," says Cynthia Ruiz, M.D., a cardiologist with Redlands Community Hospital and Beaver
Medical Group. "Cardio vascular exercises get your heart rate up and work the muscles in your heart that help to achieve a higher level of
heart health, as well as improving the overall health of your body."
Before taking on a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, always consult a
physician before beginning an exercise regimen. "Heart problems can be treated in many different ways, but the best
option is still to prevent them altogether by incorporating exercise in your
life, Dr. Ruiz said. "This disease is a serious one, and it can lead to stroke or heart attacks.
Heart problems can be passed on within families for generations - some times more visible and some
times less known."
Sponsors of the Run Through Redlands, including Redlands Community Hospital and Beaver Medical Group, make it possible to provide a
quality running event while raising money for scholarships and other worthy local charities. The event is one of the biggest in the Inland
Empire, providing a healthful and family oriented environment for participants of all ages.
